This is a free program that allows users to create beautiful interactive books. There are many features you can include in your book like video, galleries, diagrams, 3D objects, and more.

There are many options within the iBook creator software that can extend learning. However, the main reason we selected iBooks is because it is illustrative, in that it can provide visual representations or examples of something in the text and is designed to support, supplement or extend comprehension of the text. For example, one could include drawings, photos, simulations, video, photos, reenactments, sounds, or music within the book. This matches UDL guideline checkpoint 2.5, illustrate through multiple media. However, depending on the book one creates it could also match other checkpoints. Critical Analysis: iBooks Author is a great tool that is appropriate for grades 3 and up. This tool is a fun alternative to print text as the books are interactive. Positive Elements: -Extremely user friendly and creates beautiful final products -Free -Variety of premade templates and page layouts -Not only can you design textbooks but you can make cookbooks, photo books, illustrated guides, manuals, or plain text novels -There are options to add widgets to your book which make it interactive Drawbacks: -This program is only available to Macs that have Lion operating system -iBooks can only be read on an iPad -You must choose from one of the templates and there are no blank ones -Some math commands missing |
